Happy 1st Birthday Gemi

Guess who had a birthday? It's Gemi, our great-niece. She is one year old. Shea and I went to Heflin yesterday afternoon to help celebrate her birthday. Look at this cute picture. This is the invitation.
Its time to open presents. It kind of funny how a 1 year old acts around presents. She just wasn't quite sure what all the commotion was about. "Why are all these people in my house and what do you want me to do with all these boxes?" The bigger kids knew just what to do and was glad to help her unwrap presents.
She found a toy that makes noise and lights up. That got her attention.
She got her very own birthday cake she didn't have to share with anybody. There was a look of confusion on her face at first. "Why is my mama putting this big chunk of chocolate cake on my tray and why is that thing burning?
"OK, everybody is looking at me, maybe they want me to eat this."

It didn't take long for her to decide she really, really liked that cake. She started out rather slowly, not making much of a mess. But the more she ate, the more she enjoyed it. Isn't that one of the cutest chocolate covered faces you have ever seen? Happy Birthday Sweet Gemi.

Love,
Leenie
