First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the kiddos. Zach is a senior and Shea is in second grade. I think they were both ready to go back.
Zach , of course, was ready to start his final year in high school. (snif, snif) Here, he is ready to take off. For some reason he didn't want me to drive him to school and he wanted to get there early. I hope he sharpens up those math skills, advanced math and physics this year. Oh my goodness.
Shea was ready to go back to see her friends. I took her to school this morning and on the way she told me she was really excited about going to school. Then she informed me it was only because she was going to see her friends and that Monday she would not be excited anymore. When we got to school she found out Ms. Davis had moved to second grade and she would be her teacher. She was so happy about that.

So, here's the senior with Mom and Dad. The first day of his last year.

And here's our little guy on his first day of his first year going to K-4 on Aug, 26, 1996.
It's really hard to believe 13 years have past. They go by so quickly. Melissa was commenting the other day about her boys growing up and asked what happened to all those years, my Aunt Faye answered "we blinked". That is exactly what happened.

Cruise - Parte Cuatro

This is my last installment of our cruise, our last day at sea. If you haven't seen the other three parts, you may want to scroll down and start with part one.

Shea finally decided to get on the big slide. I know you can't tell, but that's her at the top. She had been on it the day before but I didn't get a picture until today.
Here she comes around the bend.
Grant relaxing and watching Shea. It wasn't long before he was back on the slide. This is some of the crew members.Time for Tindel and Shea to eat again. They would swim a while then get out, eat a little and get right back in the pool. We sat and visited with Tindel's mom and dad most of the day. We really had a good time visiting with them. It just seemed like we had a lot in common.
Tindel and Shea found another friend to play with. (Please ignore the cleavage in the background. lol)They had a final day farewell dance party. Shea and Tindel ran up there to dance and then changed their minds and got off the stage. I told them to go up there long enough for me to get a picture of them. They went back up and didn't stop dancing until the music stopped. They were really concentrating on getting the dance right. They got more into the dance as the music played. My, my...you go girls!! They were doing the Electric Slide. It was time to get the girls out of the pool to get ready for the Beatles Tribute show we were going to. Grant and Terry had to do some persuading to get them out. Did you notice Zach was not in any of the previous pictures from the day? He was hanging out with his new friends the whole day.

The last night of the cruise. Can you tell? Every one has that red tint to their skin, well, everyone but Shea, she just tans. Our dinner table friends. They were so much fun. It's great to sit and have conversation with people you've never met before.Shea and Dwight had fun with each other at dinner. Notice Shea stayed awake through the entire dinner this time but right after dinner she was ready to go to bed.
Our waiters were some of Zach's favorite crew members. They would bring him as much as he wanted to eat. Zach and Gabrielle were probable the most talented people in the room. And for our last night, no animal, but a heart. And no, I didn't get any of that chocolate either.
We are back on dry land Thursday morning. The New Orleans skyline from the parking garage. It didn't take Zach and Shea long to find a comfortable position for the ride home. Poor Grant, everybody went to sleep and left him all by himself to get us home safely. Now we are home, back to work, back to normal days of making your own bed, cooking your own meals, washing your own dishes and worse of all, cleaning your own bathroom. I am so glad we made this last minute decision to go on this cruise. I hope you enjoyed the trip.

Cruise - Parte Tres

Early Tuesday morning we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico. We were all up and outside before the boat was docked. These are a few pictures from the boat.I stood at the back of the boat and watched the men tie it up with these ropes. Those ropes were so big it took 5 men to pull them up and hook them.We went snorkeling and this is the catamaran we went on.
Grant and Shea were both ready for a fun day.Loading the catamaran, ready for snorkeling. Zach and Shea had never done that before. The photographer on the boat took this picture of Shea. The water is a beautiful color there.
Zach swam down to take this picture of Shea. She wasn't to sure about being in the water at first which surprised me because she loves to swim so much. When I ask her why she wanted to get out she said she was afraid an octopus was going to get her. So, I told there were no octopus in that water, she believed me and really enjoyed herself then.
Some of the fish we saw. Shea was looking for a shark. I'm not sure why she was ok with a shark but not an octopus.Zach would dive down as far as he could before his ears started hurting. He enjoyed swimming around with the fish.Zach heading back up to the surface.
That's me.Shea saw a "Dorey" fish. I'm not sure it was really a "Dorey" fish but I agreed with her. She never found Nemo.Shea hung pretty close to her daddy at first. But after a bit, my little "fish" took off by herself.Grant, Shea, and Zach back on the catamaran after snorkeling.Shea and Zach Shea posing, again. The water is the same color as the blue on her bathing suit.Do you think Grant and I could have used a little more sun screen? Looking back, I think that may have been the best idea. My skin is still itching where it peeled. Ouch!! Grant, of course, just turned a nice brown color and didn't peel at all. I, on the other hand, was not so lucky.I took this picture because I wanted to show the Andersons this nice house on the beach. I'm thinking we should probable rent this house next time we go on vacation together instead of one in Gulf Shores. What do you think Perry and Kim, sound like a good idea to you? After we finished snorkeling, they took us to Fury Island. It was great. Water trampolines, slides, and even a giant iceberg to climb on. Drinks were free but the food was not, just ask Zach. He thought the hamburgers were free but learned quickly, after he ordered, they were $9 each. Needless to say, he only had one. He did say it was very good though.Zach made his way out to the iceberg. That's him in the middle, climbing up.Guess who was there. It was Tindel. So the girls got to play together off the ship too. There they are about to come down the slide together.
How do you like this? There were about five of these out there under the coconut trees. I meant to get a pictures of the coconuts but I never did. Michelle wants John David to put her one out by their pond. I personally think he should.
After we got back we roamed around a little and did a little shopping. Shea was looking for Kenneth a shark tooth. This is at the port. Shea, Grant and Zach posing for yet another picture. Here are my three amigos. This must be Pappa Bear's chair.Looks even bigger when Shea sat in it.Back on the boat at dinner Tuesday night our waiters danced to "Apple Bottom Jeans" for us. It was so funny but some of them did a pretty good job and others looked like that may have been the very first time they ever danced. Here we go again. Shea had all she could take for one day. Zach carried her back to the room after dinner and she never woke up. The next morning when she woke up, she sat up in bed and looked at me and asked, "what did I have for dessert last night?" She was not happy when she found out she had slept through dessert. I knew exactly what this animal was, an elephant. We had them lined up in the window in our room, well, all of them but the road kill. (refer to part one if you don't know what I'm talking about)Only one more post and I should be done.
