Shea loves horses!!!

I'm a little behind on my post. My mother asked me the other night if I was still blogging so I decided that was my hint to get busy and post some of those many pictures I take.

Shea and Grant decided to take a ride on the horses. Grant doesn't ride much anymore so I think he likes it when Shea suggest it. This was back around the first of November. Still wearing shorts in November.
Shea has to figure out how everything works and Grant is there to help her.
She just realized I was outside with the camera.There they go...Grant is riding on ol' Gus and Shea is on Flash.It scares me to death to see her riding by herself but that's the way she wants it and I guess she is old enough. At least that's what her daddy says...hummmSome people have to make a fashion statement no matter what they are doing. High heeled flip-flops while riding horses; only Shea.Back at the barn. I think she was ready to get off by this time though. Flash is sometimes a little hard to handle.No major problems, so all went well and Shea had a good time riding with her daddy.

Jingles for Team Jake

Our first fundraiser was a coin drive at Summerfield School. Luckily for TEAM JAKE, these kids got serious about trying to be the top fundraising class. That could have had something to do with the pizza the winning class got.

After the money was counted and the top classes were determined, we asked Mr. Stevens, the principle, if we could meet with all the kids. We wanted to give them a little thank you gift. These are the kids that helped TEAM JAKE help St. Jude.

The 2nd grade class raised the most money, so they got to have a pizza party. This is the 2nd grade class with our TEAM JAKE members, except for Kim. She couldn't get off work that day.
There are two 2nd grade classes. This is Ms. Davis with her class. Can you see Shea?Ms. Allgood with her class.

Blaine and Kaden didn't have any problems finishing up their lunch.

We only had the coin drive at one school this year but I think we are going to start earlier next year and try to get several more schools to participate. The Summerfield kids (and their parents, of course) did a great job and raised almost $950 in two weeks. Thank you kids so much. Start saving your pennies, we are going to do it again next year.

TEAM JAKE Fundraiser

We had our first Facebook Friends for St. Jude fundraiser November 15th. Suzie Allen wanted to do something to help Team Jake raise some money for St. Jude. She came up with the idea of inviting all our facebook friends to meet at Nickey's in Homer and donate money while we visit and have lunch. She set everything up and even painted and donated all the door prizes. Here is the hostess for the event. I can't tell you how much we appreciate Suzie doing this.Suzie and her son J.T., who has been a patient at St. Jude himself. If I'm not mistaken, they only have to go back for a follow-up visit one more time and it is an "all clear" for J.T. Praise God and thank you St. Jude.Some of our FB friends that attended; Geralyn, Kim (a new team member), Lori, Pat, Mary...I believe these ladies' names are Denise and Laura. I sure hope I got that right.

Bro. Jerry, Ms. Pat, their granddaughter, Sue and Kenneth were there with their donations.

Keith, Shelly, Garrett (another one of our new team members), Charli, Kelsey and several others enjoyed a good meal after church.

Baby Anna even made it to the fundraiser. Her big brother, Garrett, will be headed to Memphis soon.Jake's family came to support the fundraiser. Don (Jake's daddy), Uncle Todd, Staci (Jake's mama) and Aunt Mo. Jake's JinJin and one of her friends, Mickey, were there too and I can't believe I didn't get a picture of them. Staci won the last door prize. And guess who wanted to win it and didn't...Sorry Mo, maybe next year. Staci, Mo, and Suzie.When I get the pictures Lori made, I will do another post. I missed getting pictures of some of the people there. Thank you, thank you so much Suzie. We so appreciate everything you did.

Helping St. Jude

Well here we go again. It's almost time for the St. Jude Marathon. It is December 5th in Memphis. Most of you know we have done this for the last two years.

The first year Melissa and I headed to Memphis to help Team Jake cheer on the marathoners. The next year, Melissa and I, along with Zach, Brandon and Jake headed to Memphis to participate in the Grizzlies House 5K run.

After we finished the 5K, we went to cheer on the marathoners.

This year we have recruited Kim to go with us. So we will be leaving Homer headed to Memphis Friday, Dec. 4th to help TEAM JAKE raise some money for St. Jude.
