Labor Day with the Friends

Here we are again at Lake Claiborne with a lot of the same characters and a few faces you may not have seen on one of my post.

This crew is always there. Kevin, Tyler, Ethan and Zach. These guys are all seniors this year but I have a feeling we won't be getting rid of them anytime soon.

Where there are boys, they has to be some kind of horseplay. Zach thought he was going to tackle Kevin but it didn't work quite like he planned.

It didn't take these guys long to gather around the table when they found out Mr. Chris and Ms. Syble had cooked.

Emily found something really funny. Shea has been riding with her to dancing and she thinks she is as big as Emily. In all reality, she is almost as big as Emily, because Emily is such a tiny thing, what I meant was, she thinks she is as old as Emily.

I would bet big money one of those boys was aggravating Nicole when Zach took this picture.

Ethan, was somebody buggin' you? That is almost a look of disgust.

Oh my goodness, it's our long, lost friend Dennis Dean. I haven't seen him in years. He lives in Dallas now. He was in visiting his family and came out to pick up his nephew that had spent the night with little Tyler. I was so excited to see him. He and Grant was best buddies in high school and he was in our wedding. We had so much fun talking about things from the past. Why do we let ourselves get so busy we don't keep up with old friends? (Ahhhh, the beauty of facebook. LOL)

Perry is relaxing waiting on the LSU game to start.

Syble and Smidge enjoying the day. Poor little Smidge, she could not get away from that crazy little dog and that little girl.

Chris was done with his cooking and decided to relax a little before it was time to fire up the grill again. We always eat fairly well when we are camping but when Syble and Chris are with us we eat like royalty.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before but Kim graduated from high school with Grant. They started school together in kindergarten, just like Zach and Ethan did.

The Anderson's waiting on the LSU ballgame. Can you tell they are big fans????

Ginger loves to go camping. She hates that harness though, and add a leash to it, and she is not a happy camper.

About the only time Grant will sit and relax is when he is camping.

I think Perry may have been demonstrating how the LSU quarterback is going to throw the ball.

Claire and her cousin, Isabella came to play with Shea. I think we have only been camping a couple of time at Lake Claiborne when Claire wasn't there. Shea used to think that was where Claire lived.

And the little princess must have thought we weren't getting enough pictures of her so she got my camera and started making her own picture.

Perry was telling us all how LSU was going to win the game Saturday night.

Ohhhh, someone must have said something bad about LSU, could it have been the Arkansas folks? Naw, it wasn't them, they may live in Arkansas but they are all Louisiana at heart.

It's Susie Scott, Claire's mom. Susie loves to cook and always has some goodies for everyone.

Shea, Claire, and Isabella. Peace out!!

Mr. Chris was showing the girls how to play a new game.

You go, girl.

We had three cooking stations going. There was lots of food to get cooked before the game. Grant, Perry, and Chris manned the grills. That is, until when Grant left his post and put Kim and Syble in charge of the bread. It got done, really done, some would say burnt..LOL. I only mention this because I didn't do it. At the time, I don't think I was doing anything to help. Maybe I should have been helping watch the bread.

Here is part of the gang getting ready to watch the LSU Tigers!! Perry's chair was front and center. His oldest son, Jake was at the game in Seattle. I don't know about Jake's seats but we had some really good seats.

We all knew Grant would be the first one out. The game didn't get started until 9:30PM.

Oh my, they seem to be dropping like flies. Kim was the next one out.

And then Susie had to give it up.

But, look who is still going strong....yep, it's Perry. He is the only one that made it through the entire game which was not over until about 1AM. I had to leave at half-time.

Ginger wearing Tyler's do-rag. Cool, biker pup.

The last day of camping always seems to be a sleepy day for the teenagers. That couldn't have a thing to do with the fact that they are probable working on about 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night when they camp.

Kacie looked wide awake.

Sue and Brandon sitting around visiting.

Keith and his family showed up to visit, then Weyland showed up to visit, then not long after that Kenneth and his family showed up to visit.

Weyland (aka WeWe) has been friends with Chris and Syble since high school so he always like to come and visit them when they are in town.

Daniel has spent this summer in Alaska working at a resort. I think he had a great time. I am so happy he got the opportunity to do that, how many 18 year old from Homer get to spend their summer in Alaska? I do know for a fact Kenneth (aka BooBoo) was glad for him to be back home.
Keith (aka Unkie) brought his barge out for the family to ride on. Lissa, Brandon and Jake were all with him.

Randy (aka Ramey) and Donna didn't get to come out this time because she was in the hospital. She is out now and recovering but had to spend about a week in there for respiratory problem. I just thank the Lord she is feeling better and hope she is back to normal soon. Well, as normal as she can be...just kiddin Donna, you know I love you!!

Kevin spent his weekend working. When he wasn't at work, he was at the lake, just relaxing.

Tyler, Brett and Kevin takin' it easy.

Kacie and Zach.

Kim came out to show us her new car...vroom, vroom.

The worst part of camping is when you have to pack up and go home. Brett, Tyler, Nathon and Zach were giving Ethan the moral support he needed as he packed up the tent. That looks like the only kind of help they were giving him. :-)

Ginger's friend Sugar, came to visit her Monday before we left. Sugar is Kenneth and Sue's baby.

Another hoilday at Lake Claiborne. Friends, family, food and fun!! It just don't get much better than that.

We had a great time at the lake. And you are so right about Chris and Sybil...Their cooking is tops. You can't ever go wrong by spending quality time with good friends. And by the way...LSU did win the game. GEAUX TIGERS!
